If you're a fan of catching spotted bass they are extra aggressive and moving upstream to feed on the Elm Fork. There were a lot caught at the Sandy Lake Dam on Sunday and I brought home the biggest one I've ever seen (1.57lbs). It had such a fat belly that I thought it was a preggo female but it had eaten so much shad that it looked ready to spawn, and didn't have any eggs in it. They are probably biting well at any choke point or dam in DFW once the water level goes back down.

Eric Where's this at? I could be wrong but I THINK he's talking about where the Trinity goes under Sandy Lake Road. There's a little kayak rental place there now.

I also wasn't aware that there were that many spots in there. . .white bass yes, spots. . .ok. . .a pound and a half is the biggest you've ever seen? Are you sure we aren't talking about white bass?

It sounds like sandies. They are running all over right now. Rowlett Creek has been packed lately.

There are a lot of spots in the Elm Fork I have caught several in the 1-2 pound range over the years.

I've caught a few in there too but the way the guy is describing, it really sounds like he meant white bass. I could be wrong.

Yes I'm talking about spotted bass, and that was the biggest one I've seen. Maybe the Trinity doesn't produce very many big spotted bass, may be I've just only seen the small ones caught. I've caught maybe 20 and seen 25 more caught and had never seen one over a pound. Also never caught any anywhere else except the elm fork. Guess my lack of knowledge got me excited.... Sand bass were also running, I came out with 11 that day.
And I am talking about the dam on sandy lake rd.
