Is fishing a private lake or pond the equivalent of hunting a high fenced ranch?

Camelot Bell. Do a Google search and you'll find it. Pay no attention to the prices for the bass, as those prices are if you want to buy from him to stock your own pond.

I think the going rate is approx. $1,500 for two people for the day. Monster bass in there up to about 15 pounds. A recent best 5 for a group out there I heard about was approx. 54 or 56 pounds. WOW!!

It can be. Just depends on how it is managed. Low pressured fish.

I read the OP's post too quick and misunderstood. Thought he was looking for a place, not just a general question.

Forgive my misread. Tight lines!!

I fish a Private lake all the time and I have had many days where I never caught a fish. I know it has big girls in it and I have caught 4 fish over 10 pounds on it but they don't just jump in the boat when I back into water. I know that when someone asks me what my biggest bass is and I tell them its a 12.1 pounds Bass then they ask where I caught it and I tell them they will sometimes say that doesnt count or give me a look that says it doesnt count. I have never understood that. I fished my butt of on those days to catch those fish. Sometimes it was the only bite I received and it just happened to be a big girl.
I understand that not being open to the public does protect it from the pressure but you still have to put in the time and effort. This is true for private deer leases or lakes.
At the end of the day you could probably stand on either side of this issue and make a good argument but I go to get away from the world and if someone says my big fish doest count then that's ok because I know I worked for it and enjoyed every detail of that moment and I wont allow them to take that joy away from me.....so if high fence hunting or fishing is what you do to unplug and get away from the world then go and enjoy and be happy for your friends that are fortunate enough to get to do this.

GOD BLESS AMERICA.

You could make the argument fishing any lake is equivalent to hunting a high fence property and only fishing in the ocean is like a low fence property. You could also argue any type of fishing is equivalent to hunting a high fence property and there is no such thing as 'low fence fishing'. In every type of fishing all the predators and prey are confined to the same space just like in all high fence hunting.

Fishing is still fishing. You still have to locate active fish, provide the right bait and presentation and land the fish.

The main difference, as it relates to most public reservoirs in north Texas, is pressure

"..The pleasantist angling is to see the fish
Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

Went to Ray Roberts last Sunday. Caught one bass in 3 hours and gave up because of the wind and muddy water. Loaded up and went to a private lake and caught 50 bass from 11am to 2:30pm with 6 fish in the 5 lb range, mostly on spinner baits in muddy water and even caught 7 on a buzz bait. Private Lakes will spoil you, so don't ever get on one! eek

High fence fishing will definitely spoil you. I drive 2,000 miles to get to one as often as I can find someone to go with me. When I cross the boarder into Mexico it is just 7 more hours to the lake. HA.....
