There were grass carp stocked in Lakes above Conroe (Sunset Lake), and spillway that allowed them to move downstream.

Just got back and saw hundreds rolling along the grass edges in the very back of Wier Creek. I thought they were bass and I'd hit the jackpot. It's tight tight tight getting back in there in a bass boat- I know I tried. A flat bottom or a yak would make for a fun day.

The lake is estimated to have around 30,000 grass carp left in the lake per TPWD biologist. They are using the existing plant cages that have hydilla in them as a monitor. If the hydrilla starts growing outside of the cages they will add more into the lake.

The triploid grass carp that were overstocked in Lake Conroe are not supposed to reproduce. The one's you see rolling around on the banks should not be triploid carp. They are just the Common Carp. They are going crazy on lots of Texas lakes right now.

Don't let those carp fool you, I've caught plenty of spawners back there right next to the carp and some good ones too.

"The triploid grass carp that were overstocked in Lake Conroe are not supposed to reproduce."

The original stockings were diploids.
