Sunday I was out in lake fork cruising at about 40mph in the boat lane when my 2011 nitro z6 began taking on water. I managed to get it to the ramp and pull it out to find a large chunk of the fiberglass on the bottom was visible. It appears it may have come delaminated and come apart. Looks like my insurance is going to hang me out to dry, as they are calling it a manufacturer defect. I'm looking to get a quote on repair to determine if it's even worth venturing that direction. I owe a lot on the boat still, and am trying to figure out my next move. Any recommendations on businesses that could take on the task would be appreciated.
If it ain't chartreus, what's the use?

As you note, fiberglass can be repaired. The term delamination typically describes an undesirable reversal of the manufacturing process. If that's what happened vs. striking an object then your insurance company isn't hanging you out to dry. If the fender rusts through the paint on your truck, do you expect your auto insurance company to fix that? If your water heater stops working, do you expect home insurance to replace it? As for "venturing in the that direction" on repair and you statement that you still owe a lot of money on the boat, you're stuck owing the balance due to the finance company regardless of what you do. Repair or not, you owe a balance they will seek to recover. If you let it repo, be prepared for the big hit on your credit rating and a likely judgement equal to the difference between the salvage value and the owed balance.
Welcome to the responsibilities of owning material things. What's the Nitro hull warranty say?

Gee, thanks for that, but I was mostly hoping for a fiberglass repair referral, or possibly some insight from someone experienced in that dept about how serious of a problem it is, and what i may be looking at cost wise. Since you didn't touch on either of those topics I guess I need to add that I am well aware of my financial obligations, and was not seeking a condescending life lesson on owning things. Furthermore, we aren't taking about rust. I'm taking about being on the water when my boat came apart for unknown reasons, which may possibly include psychical damage that led to the fiberglass coming apart. Which I thought plausible as a 5 year old hull is not likely to suffer delaminating without some event contributing.

A gator or gorilla hull may be an option also. Defiantly wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion to be sure it wasn't caused by an impact.

Northtex, are you the original owner of the Nitro? It will make a difference if you persue any warranty remedies. Sorry for your issues with the boat.

I am the second owner, and have had it over a year. Good luck. Hope you are able to get it repaired. If you can, give us some follow up in the future. It might help others out.

The 2011 nitro shows to have a 10 year warranty on the hull. Newer ones are limited lifetime and transferable. I'd be contacting them and having them repair it under the warranty.
