If you had to guess how many 10lbers Texas produced annually, what would you put the number at? Over the past 20 or so years Toledo Bend's Lunker Program has averaged about 35/year. Last year was a stellar year with 81. This year looks to be on pace to break that. Certainly not all fish over 10lbs are reported, but I've got to believe 100/year out of Toledo Bend is a reasonable number. I would think Fork, Rayburn, Falcon, perhaps one or two others put out a similar number annually. On the whole I would think the state wide number is somewhere around 1000? What would you guys guess?

Nowadays only fork could rival Toledo. A few years ago falcon could. Rayburn puts out big fish but not at that rate.

while Fork does not have a program like Toledo Bend, where 10 # fish are documented and released and then their group makes and gives the angler a plastic mount, they have had an angler survey sponsored by the Lake Fork Sportsman's Assoc, TPWD and all the marinas that has been going on for probably 13 years.
TPWD people collect the lists and use it as part of their profile to decide how many young bass to stock each year. And the kicker is that only about 20% of the fish over 8 # are recorded. Most anglers don't bother with it.
I would imagine that this info is available from their website and perhaps from the marinas themselves.

Come on Latta, you've got to have about as good a guess as anyone. What do you put the number at!?

Tough to put a real number on it. So many places a 10 could be caught. Hard to see it being over 1000

I'd say between 500-1000 pretty easily. Who knows, not everyone posts on TFF or Facebook showing off their catch.

1000 just seems too low. I caught 3 in one year a while back. I have a hard time believing I caught 0.3% of the DDs caught that year in the state. I think the number was much higher in like 2010-2011 when Falcon, Amistad, Choke, Ivie and Austin were kicking them out at a much higher rate than they are now.

Actual 10 lb bass- less than 500 I think. Public waters I mean. Who knows?

I think the number is way less talking about actual truly weighed 10 plus lb bass on public waters in Texas per year. Consider a much larger number of 8-9 lb bass are caught- how often are those called ten?-often.

Of course we are all just guessing so I may be wrong for sure- it is a big state after all.
