I went fishing at a local pond today. As I was walking the bank I came across about 4 bass in one little area. I threw most everything in my box and they just wouldn't bite. I threw a 10in. power worm in blue flek, a watermelon colored strike king jig, a blue(forgot the color) pitboss wieghtless, and a storm swimbaits. All of these baits I have caught bass on previously. They were right at the bank. One I guess was about 5lbs. What should I throw?

Weightless trick zoom worm (natural blue color) will usually whack spawning pond bass, or a tx rigged lizard, have to drag and scoot it right o to the bed and hit right spot to [censored] them off though

A live night crawler from walmarts refrigerator near the fishing department. Lol. On a tiny perch hook. Lol. Or a cast net.
That's what the local hillbilly [censored] do at our local pond. I stock it with my days keepers. They catch em and cook em. I'd love to see a game warden check licenses and write tickets there some day. He'd run out of ink.
We're these bass bedding?

Just cause you see them don't mean they will eat.

Its' that time of year...fish are coming up, cruising, can be hard to catch particularly the bigger females. wait a bit, they'll be settled into a bed soon.

If you can see them, they can probably see you. Cast from way back from the bank.

Probably not what you were throwing (all those are good options) They were possibly spooked if they were that shallow (if you saw them, they probably sensed you were there) Bedding fish can sometimes take a long time to get to bite. For easily spooked shallow bass I like the following: Stand very far away from the bank (as a general rule, I don't want any part of my rod able to reach the bank line with my arm fully extended) Rig a creature bait on a very short hook to weight length drop shot. Cast the drop shot well past the bass and drag it toward them When the bait gets in the bass, just soak it, give it a little twitch every now and then.

It's just some wild tangent about hillbillies who are apparently your neighbors. Can't say how I see that info helping this guy get bit at his local pond. That's all.

If the fish is staying and not spooking try putting a weight on the pit boss, flip it past the fish, when you bring it back toward the bed as it gets near the non-biting &#^%$ jerk the weight into its side and then let the bait settle. Sometimes by doing that a few times they will get mad enough to attack it.

They were bedding right on the bank on the edge of some grass. They kept going up to the cypress knees. Thanks for the advice. I did stand back a little(15 feet) and cast and have the bait come right next to them.

I used to fish a pond like that, the fish wanted absolutely nothing. Wouldn't touch worms, spinnerbaits, cranks and then one day..... I used a fluke type of lure and they just absolutely crushed it all day. One of the best days I've ever had. If you ever find their lure or color preference, you'll catch them.
