The past couple of weekends, I've been taking my daughter creek fishing with me. We haven't caught a ton yet, but she has enjoyed it, really likes the idea of catching her own food. She's on spring break this week and wants to get out and do some fishing tomorrow morning, which I think is pretty awesome. I told her with the rains, creek fishing is a no go but that maybe we could go to a fishing barge and try for some crappie. She's never been to a barge and after I explained it to her she was still down. My question is, are the bluegills biting in any of the barges (in case she gets bored)? Is one better than other? I'm closest to Ray Hubbard, but Lewisville wouldn't be too far. Thanks for any help!

Here's a couple of picks of her. One with one the fish she caught and her cleaning another. Normally I'll clean our catch and she watches and asks questions. This time she begged me to let her do it herself. She did pretty well. I was impressed.

Definitely NOT the Lewisville barge, there's nothing there.

Took my son to Lynn Creek Marina from 3-10pm yesterday, same as you...out for Spring Break and rain so looking for a spot to catch some. Heard the bite was on early for crappie from 6:30-8am, but we caught 4 during our visit. Only 1 was a keeper.

The Lewisville marina is open 24 hours and heard it is really nice. I think we'll try that next time.

Let us know where you go and how you do. Might try somewhere again with my son tomorrow.

Definitely a great fishing buddy you got there!!!

Loo ale Tawokini has one I think

Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

Hey Mr. Novice! How old is your kiddo? We went to the barge on Ray Hubbard. We got there around 7am and fished until 11:30am. We caught five keeper crappie and a couple of throwbacks. There were a couple of people there who had a few more than us when we left....and a couple who didn't get any. The bite was all jigs though. No one using minnows caught. Good luck!

Oh, and we didn't catch any bluegills unfortunately. I took some crickets hoping we might get a couple, but they weren't out yet. She did catch one war mouth though.

Sorry, I missed this. My boys are 12 and 13. My youngest has autism, so when I take him with I like to have an easy place to keep an eye on him. Not that he's a troublemaker, but he has no natural fear instinct.
