Can i use existing hd si transducer off my 998 and get si/di on the regular helix 9 sonar gps ($700). Or do i have to buy the si unit ($999) to get it.

Wishfull thinking.

NO you cannot add technology by adding a transducer.

The 2D unit does not have the circuits or software to process Side Imaging.

You can use the HDSI transducer's dual beam crystal for 2D sonar with the Helix 9 Sonar GPS.
