 Using Tin Instead of Lead?

So I want to start pouring some of my own baits, but I don't want to use lead. When something is known to cause cancer and birth defects, I don't want to work with it all day. I don't want to expose myself or anyone in my family to it. I have enough in my tackle box already. So can I use tin instead? I've heard it's a little lighter, has a similar melting point, and more expensive. Has anyone else used it.
Also, how do you paint it? Can you powder coat it like lead or is there another way?

Well doesn't look like tin is much better. I really don't want to bring health hazards into my house. Any other alternatives?

I pour outside in the garage with a fan blowing the fumes outside. I also where a respirator and gloves. Just take your time and do thing carefully and you will be fine.

Your house is full of stuff that someone considers dangerous. BTW, tin melts at a much lower temperature than lead. Right now tin is about 30x more expensive than lead (before shipping costs). BTW, if you want to get started I'm fairly close to Dallas and have about 100 molds, couple three pots and a painting station.

Don't eat it. Don't get it in open cuts and don't get it so hot it boils and you're fine.

I'll have to go out and update my inventory as the current list only has 94 molds on it and I know I've picked up another dozen at least. I've got most of the bass jigs, weighted hooks, spinner baits, crappie jigs, slabs, tail spinners and blade bait molds. Also a good supply of various sinker molds.

Latest inventory is 119 different molds. I've got a few duplicates. So around 125 total Do-It molds.
