Water dropped from 450 to 350. I had one good fish yesterday late on a black fly emerger. Where do you start today? Big fish just follow you around all day waiting on you to kick up food. Lots of pressure around the Texas Hole. I fished the dam area yesterday. Fish seem to be pushed to all the deeper holes with the water drop. How would you attack them?

With heavy pressure I would go with a very long leader with no split shot seven X floro and something very small. Eating midges like they do they're almost constantly they've got to eat . Good luck

Love the San Juan. Haven't been there in awhile but love the fish population there.

I'd fish small 22 to 24 midge pupa (check with Abe's) probably in black and definitely with split shot to get it down. My backup would always be the wolly bugger dead drifted through the seams.

Tight Lines!!

Be different. I have twice been there when it was that tough and flows were low. I used the biggest yellow or orange stimulator I could find and caught trout when no one else did.
I figured this out when I had several fish come up and try to eat my fluffy white strike indicator.
I think it was just curiosity strikes but it worked and was fun.

Using two stages of the midge hatch was a key as well and the smaller the better. Lots of pressure around the Texas hole. Next time I will spend all my time in the holes up by the dam. Harder to get to and less people.

Agree...the area above Texas hole is best wading for me.
