Here are some a fishing buddy and I made back in the 90's. One is missing, another Red and Black. BIG fish on Fork decided he wanted it. Broke 20 pound Big Game like it was nothing.

I have a home made AC plug a buddy gave me in the mid 90's. It is red with black stripes and the first time I threw it I caught a lunker. Here's the story: Was fishing Rayburn during the fall and catching bass on rogues shallow. Before I loaded the boat, I decided to tie on the new lure(AC plug) given to me. I figured I was wasting my time throwing something that big....but it had been a great day, so why not try it. First cast...yes, honestly...first cast shallow, a huge bass took the plug and the fight was on. Finally landed it and didn't have a scale so I guessed around 8 pounds(had caught a 10 pound bass a few months earlier), might have been a little heavier, not sure....a 3-4 pound fish would have been great on the new lure. Told my buddy at work about it and he kinda laughed....thought I was kidding. But I had a friend in the boat who got it on video. Let my buddy watch it and he was all smiles! True story!

Mark, your comment about big baits and Lake Fork. Ran xcross a box of "The Big Salami" last weekend. There were Shad, rainbow trout and a couple other colors. All jig heads were powder coated. black. 1-1 1/2 oz. My gosh we caught a lot of big fish slow rolling those baits.
In the dead of winter. When it used to get cold in late Dec-Jan. Nastier the weather, the better. 3/4 oz. Lil George and a 3/4 CC spoon rounded out the 'Arsenal'.
A/C was a morning deal for us, but always produced BIG fish.
Mark Pack taught me these techniques. 15-20 yrs ago. Helped me to refine them over the years, too. Credit where it's due. Thanks Packman!

You want one? I just keep 'em around as a conversation piece, ha. I used to have the smaller ones, too, but lost 'em. I never caught any fish on the big ones, just the smaller ones. $20bucks a piece back then was literally highway robbery. Send me your address and I'll mail you one, or save it for ya until I head to Fork next. Okie Next time you're at Fork, we can have a cool refreshing beverage and discuss the best retrieve for such a bait... Thanks Tom ....

I still have some of the original AC plugs Alan Cole gave me. I've never used them. I have one of the early Castaic bream too. Still in the original box. Man, twenty years go by fast.

I couldn't stand it, tried to resist it, but couldn't. Just bought some AC plugs off ebay. Cheaper than in 1997 I'm going to use them too...

I still throw them on Fork. The ones that are 9 inches have the best action. These baits eliminate small fish. Cloudy/ overcast day in April or May - tie one on and see what happens... find one in the rainbow trout color.

I liked the black one with white stripes. I would color every other stripe red. Man did it produce.

I remember having a fishing partner laugh at me when I first started throwing one. He laughed until it caught a couple of big fish. Still have it but it really needs a new tail.
