I am heading to Sam rayburn on Sunday and I am going to put in at San augistine park and plan on fishing up in five fingers. How is running the lake between those two place and any info in general about the lake would be appreciated

With all of the rain this week, I dont know if any info that i might give would be current enough. Watch for floaters.

Definitely some stumps if running from San Augustine to five fingers. You are clear once you get past buck bay. If you are unsure, just drive around and launch in five fingers. It's not that far from San Augustine park.

easy run if the main lake isn't angry. Agree with Jaret on the easy launch into 5 Fingers, just gotta find it. Launching at Powell Park gets the stumpd out of play but still a good 1/2 mile of open main lake to run. Don't know if you've ever run Big Sam open water with 20-25mph winds.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

I just fished five fingers last Sunday. Did pretty good on square in sexy shad and T-rigged worm. Look in the grass/brush in 3-5 fow. Coal Hauler, do you work for Luminant?

Putting in at five fingers would be your best bet. Also, a southwest wind makes most of five fingers tough to fish. If you do run from S.A. come around the point at the ramp and aim your boat straight at the last point before the main lake. you'll miss everything in front of buck bay and square woods.
