Good day again. We fished the Fulton Pier under the bridge last night. We were able to catch about a dozen Specked trout in about an hour and a half. 95% were caught on a Speck rig in chartreuse. Most were small but two would have been legal keepers although we released them all. The boys had a blast. We might try wade fishing today. My 10 years old is still dreaming of catching one redfish before the trip is over.

Glad y'all are catching some fish. The front blowing through on Saturday didn't help y'all's chances all that much, but it should be getting better today and tomorrow before another smaller front blows through on Thursday.

Wind was 35 - 40 mph yesterday with more of the same this morning making it tough to fish structure that holds game fish ... front Thurs and another small one Sun. with each having a chance of bringing some precipitation, then a warming trend sets in ... fish are on the move though and when wind conditions have been good - fishing has been close to excellent.

Good day all. The family had a great trip last year and we will be back down in a couple of weeks. We were able to catch a few Specks off the Goose Island Pier and the Fulton Pier, but struck out wade fishing. We used some Medium action rods we got from Walmart. I spooled them with braided line in hopes it would help my sons feel the bites better and then used a swivel and a mono leader or a pre rigged popping cork or speck rig set up. I am hopeful to get my sons on more fish this time around. We did not try Jetty fishing last year, but would like to this year. Any thoughts or ideas would be great. Our week is TBD as it could be anytime between March 17th and April 8th... we should have that solidified soon. What are my best chances for daytime fishing? The biggest goals are to catch more fish, catch a red fish and any other variety we didn't last year. Last year we caught specks, one tiny sheephead and a croaker I think it was called.
Also considering the Jetty Boat to San Jose Island or possibly a kayak trip with an outfitter... so any thoughts on those would be great.
Thanks again for any help.

If you are wanting to wade from the shoreline look at the access point for Copano Bay off of loop 1781. You can also try the shell to the east side of the Copano Bay Bridge. Just park at the boat ramp and walk under the bridge. The shoreline in lamar from the boat ramp to the big tree can be good at times also. If you have any questions feel free to pm me any time!!

Pretty dang muddy right now - SE winds are whipping up the bays BIG TIME !!!
... protected areas with a western sunshine on them are best for wade fishing right now.

Thanks for the replies all. Anderson, I send you a PM.
Grinder- we seemed to really fight that issue last year. A lot of areas were really muddy or trying to fishing without getting all kinds of debris on your line was tough.
pcde123- I wouldn't mind that. It would depend on what day we arrive in Rockport. Any knowledge and tips I can get would be great. I'm really open to any kind/style... whether it be wade, shore or jetty fishing. I just want my kiddos to be able to catch some fish.
Thanks for all the help so far!

check out my blog at: www.shoreboundangler.comlots of current reports and a searchable historical database of past trips to help you figure out where they are biting. If I'm in the Rockport area and want to get action, I'll try Goose Island State Park Pier, or the Copano Bay pier. Either spot, use live or dead shrimp on bottom and your bait will not be ignored. Good day all... been a whirlwind since we came back. We had a blast again... jealous of all the neat fishing opportunities 'y'all have! Caught some hardhead, gaftop and speckled trout on the Copano Bay Pier. Caught some sheepshead on the Port A jetty... that was really fun.... I can see why so many folks do it each day... they fight like crazy. My son also caught a flounder and Atlantic Spadefish he was pretty pumped about. It was fun! We also got to net a 40 pound drum for someone on the pier.. was a fun trip.
