Ever wonder if scent formulas work? I conducted an experiment with a formula I won in a tournament. Watch what made me a believer and see why you might want to consider using it for stubborn bass.

Nope It don't make a difference.
If it's a confidence thing and you think it makes you catch more fish, then yes it is in that fashion.....

They work at masking any scent you might be putting on your bait. It's a scientific fact that they don't actually attract fish.

If you're trying to hide other odors such as gasoline then I think they help.
Beyond that, I don't know. I use a scent made by Berkeley just in case it does help.

I don't think it helps attract them to the bait, but, I do believe it helps the fish hold the bait a little bit longer to help with hook sets.

Aerosol sprays Don't work.I have sprayed bang on some baits and never caught a fish on them again. But fish oil based scents I believe work. the best scent I ever used was devour scent and it was mostly fish oil from a guy out of Oklahoma. I swear that stuff made a difference.

IMO in didn't attract the fish, but when a spooky fish is weighing things in his head, in a high pressure area....I feel like it is just one more thing in your presentation that helps. It may be masking other orders or offering familiar ordors but it's just one more thing that is helping convince a cautious fish that this is dinner not a hook set.

If it's a confidence thing and you think it makes you catch more fish, then yes it is in that fashion..... i disagree. I had zero confidence in it. I'm not affiliated with the guy, it was just a prize they threw to guys who placed. I think it plays a small role in giving you the edge when the bite isn't on or your dealing with spooky fish in clear water or High pressure areas. I have no illusions that throwing this on any time you go out will make your lure a fish magnet. I think it camouflages the true nature of your lure...not make it an attractant, if that makes sense.

It masks human scent. That is enough.

My Biotech works in a Gov. facility where he test the aggressiveness of fish toward different scents every day. He worked in the freshwater tanks for years and now does salt water. He assures me that all species hate the human odor therefore we should be masking our human scent with something. The 3 natural scents to Bass that they like the best and will strike the chum bags more often than all the others are: - Minnow - Night Crawler - Crayfish
I have added Craylic because many like to fish with Crayfish and Garlic. The fish have nothing against garlic; but it is not necessary to produce more strikes. There is no question in my mind that using scent sews up the deal on Big Bass that are looking for the real deal when searching for pray.

Virtually every soft plastic has some sort of formula in it when produced. So yes, scent works. Aftermarket scent??.....Well there have been multiple times I can recall, if you didn't have the pookie sauce on, you weren't gettin bit.

I'm a believer. Biggest fish I have ever hooked into convinced me one day years back on mother Fork.
I found her on a bed in about 7 FOW. I could barely see her when she moved. I camped out on her for about an hour. Dragging a jig through the bed 50+ times. My dad pulled a crawfish scent out of his bag and I sprayed it on my jig, pitched it back in the bed....bam! First cast with a scented bait. I will always have some with me.
