i know a buzz bait is great for dingy stained water, but what colors and how should i select what colors? dark on cloudy days light on bright days? also do y'all uses trailers? seems like a paddle tail would be a good idea, haven't fished a buzz bait much at all, normally stick to walking n prop baits but i figure the more noise the better right? any input would be appreciated.

Black or white usually catches them fine. Stained to muddy water I like black with a black or gold blade. Clearer water or when I see a ton of shad I like white with white or silver blade.

They have bit both pretty well since early February for me.

My favorite anytime is the strike king chartreuse/white with a Couple blue strands in it.

This! Last Sunday I caught about 8 on buzzbait before the wind picked up too much to make it effective.

I use the same color combos' as Mark, I also like to add a little dipper as a trailer usually white, on either bait, dip the tail with red or chart JJ's magic
My favorite brands are the original Lunker lure, LockHart, some Booyah with holes in the blade or blades. I have drilled holes myself a time or two, if you ever get one that squeeks on the retrieve, hang on to that one (it'll hunt). An observation I've made on days when the buzzbait was extremely effective... The bait will leave a trail of bubbles behind it on the retrieve..

Black, white, chartreuse & white are all you need. I'll only add a trailer if the water is really stained or at night for the larger profile & the buoyancy. The added buoyancy will allow an even slower retrieve which I think is important in dirty water. The original Lunker Lure will do you right, just be sure to sharpen the hook a bit. The Strike King tri-wing is another favorite of mine. My personal best (9.5lb out of Fork) came on one.
