I think crappie might be too "technical" for a youngster, plus live minnows can be a pain to deal with - however, when fishing with night crawlers or mealworms, you also stand a chance a crappie simply nabs it.
But the little bluegill, perch and sunfish are by far the easiest to produce without much trouble. She's gonna catch 40 fish to your one
more tips. In the area you're going to be, chum the water with chunks of bread, and/or corn. You can also use corn kernels on the cricket hooks.
Keep the worms out of the sun, the heat really messes em up. Just a little ice to your cooler and toss em on top.
