Pro - They're longer so you can operate them in a little deeper water
Con - They're longer so they stick up further possibly making it harder to operate around trees and getting the boat in/out of the garage.

I'm on my 3rd set of Power Poles. Since I'm running a 24' Skeeter Bay now, I went with the 10 footers this time. They are being installed right now. The only con I can give on the 10 footers is that they look a little odd on a bass boat. Drop me a PM in a couple of weeks and I'll tell you what I can about running 10s vs 8s.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Agreed. The 10 footers look a bit ridiculous on a bass boat.

I went with 10's and wish I had done 8's. The height makes them a little top heavy and they wear the bushings out pretty quick wobbling around, I forgot them once and hit them going under a bridge and in deeper water they really torque and twist. Also, on a Skeeter especially because of how they mount, they just stick up too high and look funny. I would do 8's if I was doing it over.

I used to think I wanted 10's instead of 8' because the extra depth would open up new places I could use them. Until last spring I watched a guy try repeatedly to get into a backwater pond with them and eventually give up because they kept hanging. I eased right on through with my 8'er all the way up and ended up catching several fish back there.

I disagree. My 10 allows me to stabilize on windy points at about 9.5 ft. I have 21 ft Legend. Ton of my friends wish they would have got 10 instead 8.

I have 8's and never even thought about going to 10's since they are only available in Blades. I stayed with Pro Series II's and have no complaints.

Save the trouble! Buy dual 12' talons, best money I ever spent on my boat. Easy to install and no worries of hydraulic lines and way shorter than 10' poles and none of that flopping going down the lake

I have eight's. I have been in situations that ten's would have been better.

I have thought about buying Talons, still not totally convinced.
