Hello TFF Members! Lake Fork is fishing great right now, especially if you catch it on the right day. It seems we will have a few slow days followed by a few days where the fish are feeding like crazy and will bite a wide variety of lures which is typical for this time of year. Our best lures have been white chatterbaits, weightless 5" Senkos, and green pumpkin 3/8 or 1/2 oz jigs.
If fishing the north 1/2 of Lake Fork, cast the vibrating jigs on windy banks and on points near shallow spawning flats. Fan cast the weightless Senko on secondary points in 4-6 ft or along shallow spawning banks that are protected by the north wind. Pitch the jig to standing timber or make short casts and drag/hop the jig back along the creek bends in 6-12 ft. Use a 3/8 oz jig for fishing in shallower water or on calm days and use the 1/2 oz on windy days or when pitching timber deeper than 8-10 feet.
On the bottom 1/2 of Lake Fork fish near main lake points, secondary points, pond dams, steep banks, shallow roadbeds, and 6-12 ft creek channels with white chatterbaits, gold jerkbaits, and weightless 5" green pumpkin or watermelon red Senkos. Somedays the bass will prefer a moving bait like a chatterbait, jerkbait, a red lipless crankbait, or a flat crankbait. On other days they will not chase a moving bait but will bite with a soft plastic technique like a Senko, dropshot, or jig. The best bite has come midday and during the early afternoon as soon as it nears the warmest part of the day. Don't hesitate to throw a topwater lure like a buzzbait during rainy conditions for some great action as well!
