Any knot you tie really well and have confidence in, you don't want to lose that bad boy, great bait!

A lot of guys use a loop knot to try to give the lure a little more action. I use a palomar because I never saw any difference when I used a loop knot. Bottom line knot isn't all that important on topwater lures, as long as it's a strong one.

You can also tie a uni knot and simply tighten it down leaving it off the lure eye by your desired spacing.

Grab the lure and use a thumb nail to pull the knot down to, tighten it up, and stop there. When the fish takes the lure, the knot will cinch on down but you get the same action that you'd get from a loop knot in the meantime . . . with a much stronger knot.

After a catch, either pull the knot back out to re-form the loop, easy to do; or, better yet, re-tie the knot to protect your sizeable investment. YMs are pretty expensive.
