My daughter has a soccer game in Princeton Friday, so....
Any reports on Lavon that would make me drag a boat down and experience a new lake to me? Any lodging suggestion?

No boat needed if they are on the rock along the 380 bridge, you will know if you see trucks parked along 380.

There is a ramp on the west end of the 380 bridge.

The lake has been tough lately.
Two week's ago CAT tourney had only a few teams weigh 7 fish. That's 30 teams fishing 7 hours each. frown
Having said that, it was a windy day.
The spawn should be on in force in ~3+ weeks ???? , but by then it will be on most everywhere.

Lodging? Princeton? roflmao lol I lived there for 16 years. It was big time when we got a traffic light. There are two now, but still no lodging. cool
The High School is a thing of beauty though! flag
Closest would be McKinney. Maybe there is a B&B somewhere around there or Farmersville, but not likely.
Would be a lot of time and expense to drag a boat down, get a hotel... and not catch fish.

Do like Kirk said and try those rocks along the 380 bridge. That is usually one of the first spots that turn on since it is so far north and I guess the rocks heat up the water for them. If you have good balance, walk along there jigging. If you don't, get some minners and set out a few poles with corks about 2-4' deep.

Good Luck!

If you do go, the Best Western in Wylie is pretty darn nice.

Are they at the 380 bridge already? Is this confirmed, I know there have been some cars out there but I did not know if they were catching or not.

Lake Lavon crappie had a huge, unmolested spawn last year with the great flood of 2015. The lake was closed and there was almost zero pressure. And the fish were all good until the Christmas flood. Ever since they started drawing down all that water the fish have largely been a no show. Sure we still catch some but not in the numbers you would expect, or even the numbers you get from other lakes. Lavon is usually an awesome crappie lake.

Simultaneously, and quite mysteriously, once they opened up the flood gates at the dam, the bite shut off on the lake like it should but there were a bunch of people catching limits in a couple hours day after day after day for weeks below the dam. Kinda like all those lazy winter crappie had gotten sucked out and we're now in the river below the dam. It was A LOT of fish being caught down there. You couldn't throw a cast net down there to catch shad without catching crappie in your net. So I'll be interested to see what happens with the crappie this year at Lady Lavon.

I was on 380 last Saturday but didn't get a bite. I've haven't heard any reports of them being caught from 380 yet, but I'm sure I'll try next week...

It's been a month since I was up there, but there were some fish on the submerged levee that is about 1/2 mile south of the bridge. Good luck. I hope to get out there later next week.
