I moved here about a year ago from Minnesota and decided I'd pick up a rod & reel from Academy and try my hand at fishing after a decade-long hiatus. With no boat to speak of, I'm wondering if there are any good bank fishing spots for bass or crappie this time of year? I live in Addison, but will pretty much be willing to drive anywhere to fish somewhere fun.
Any good bank fishing spots? Specifically any around the White Rock Lake area, or little ponds, creeks, or pools in north DFW that are any good?

Wish I could help. I've read guys bank fishing WRL but I've never been so don't know how good it is. I live in Las Colinas and fish out here in Irving area. Only place outside of Irving is at a pond in Lewisville located behind the A#1 Air facility. The fishing is good enough in Las Colinas that I don't venture out much.

Whiterockjesse in the rough fish carp section could probably help you out with white Rock lake. He's been around awhile and fishes for everything on white Rock lake. As far as any other bank spots in dfw? Any creek you can find close to a lake.

Legacy is pretty good. I guess Independent is pretty good. You can't go wrong with Texans Credit Union either.

White Rock Lake is going to be hard to beat. Put on a Texas-rigged craw and cast to any structure you see. When you find rocks and grass/wood you'll find the bass. I'd start at the Mockingbird bridge and walk.
