I'm finally at a point that I can update my fishing equipment and looking for some real world advice. I'm started with my spinning reels and stayed with Shimano. Stradics were my choice. My baitcasters are a different story. I would like to try a Lew's. Here's where I would appreciate y'alls help. I mostly fish bass with cranks, worms and spinners. I sometimes dabble a shrimp in salt water. the three reels I've narrowed it down to are:

1)Lew's Tournament Pro G Speed Spool

2)Lew's BB-1 Pro Series

3)Lew's BB2 Inshore

The 6:8 and 7:1 ratios seem to work best for my lure selections but the reel model alludes me.

Thanks for your experience .. BP...

Don't discount a super duty. I use mine for deep cranks and inshore on a 8' Castaway.

I use a Lew's Inshore with 10 - 12# mono on a 7' medium BPS Extreme for some salt water applications and I use the same set up , maybe with Fluorocarbon for freshwater crank and stick baits.

I have the BB1 with 14# line . So far has worked great for me . I would not use it in salt water tho . If your using saltwater then you need a reel built specially for saltwater . My nephew fishes off shore all the time . He tells me never use fresh water reels in salt water , guaranteed to ruin them even if you flush and clean them thoroughly he says they will ruin anyway .

Been using that set up 2+ years and had no problems at all. I take care of my reels also. Break them down about 4-5 times a year. I don't use it offshore though, only in the bays and bayous. Grew up saltwater fishing and been doing it for 30+ years...

for the price, the BB1 is a solid reel. I have had just about every Lews reel out there and my fav is the Super Duty and the new Lews LFS Speed Spool. Great reels, light weight, strong and durable.
