I know everyone has a different opinion when it comes to fishing in the wind. Tournaments, how many days you have off work to fish, vacations, size of your boat, experience level ect. Also different lakes are notorious for being worse than others with regards to wind. But let's take a lake like fork. What do you guys consider to much to fun fish fork. Holding the following constants what's your opinions?
2015 21' triton Experienced angler and boater Experienced on fork with regards to boat lanes and submerged trees No kids or wives in the boat just a fishing partner
Fork can get bad with a south wind but there are so many places to hide especially this time of year with fish moving up. What would be the max mph you would consider not canceling a trip.....

With that boat, just go fishing! 30-35 would be bad, but still "doable". Make sure when you do have to cross the lake E-W, you do it near the protection of a bridge, and just fish out of the wind!

I don't think I'd cancel a planned trip of any significance over anything but the most extreme wind. Certainly some days could be unpleasant even dangerous to run the main lake in, but there is always some place to hide. On the big reservoirs those places can be numerous and big enough to fish for an extended period. Worst case scenario you might have to do a little more trailering around.

Agreed, you have plenty of boat. Find somewhere that you can get out (mostly) of the wind and enjoy fishing. I will be there next week and am not canceling unless absolutely necessary! Do some map work, find places that are protected where you feel like you can still be productive! Most of all, have fun.

yesterday with 25 mph out of NW blowing exactly down west arm it was getting up there solid 3 footers and high frequency, so no troughs to run. it was doable, the Rayburn/Toldeo guys have to do that all the time and worse. Fork has so many ramps and pockets that you can always trailer to avoid the bad stuff.

35+ winds simply are not enjoyable to fish in if not in a some what protected cove or arm of the lake... Now with a 21ft boat there's no water you can't run on, just won't be the smoothest of rides..

I've crossed Rayburn with a 35mph northwest wind. Doesn't always mean it was the smartest decision. Only do what YOU feel comfortable with. There is not a fish worth your life. Launch and fish the upwind side.

I fished Fork in 35mph+ in my 18ft Skeeter, but I stayed away from the main lake. Plenty of ramps all over the lake, just launch close to where you're gonna fish. In a 21ft, it'll be a lot less scary than it is in my boat
