Want to go for my first trip down. Should I bother with the boat, or just walk the trails? I appreciate any info or fishing reports you can share.

Good deal. I've got a 14ft jon wiith a 5hp motor thats really done good on nueces this year (hammered em 5 times this run.) As it turns out, cbsp is actually 45 minutes closer to me. You mentioned the shallows, how far, roughly, is that from the boat ramp? Keep in mind I've never been there an am working fron the tpwd map. Thanks for your help, too.

Just got back from there. Was in kayaks but didn't really need for where I was catching. Limited out on Tuesday in rapids just upstream from headquarters fly fishing. Didn't fish Wednesday went hiking instead. Should have fished instead Wed since yesterday and this morning was really SLOW. A couple of guys trolling on a small boat like yours caught about 20 yesterday.

and now the weather looks bad. I'll watch just in case. Fishing is always good when the river is on the rise.

But sitting on the water in a metal boat during thunderstorms is never a smart idea. Still watching the weather.
