Found some old picks of Cooper when it was hot. Do the fish still spawn in the trees ? I haven't been there in a long long time. Has all the trees snapped off at water line?

Trees are still there, not sure about the spawning.

The water turned muddy and never cleared up. Once it went muddy, the bass were never the same. Cooper used to be awesome. Now, it's just catfish and hybrids.

Those were the days! What ruined Cooper was the water being pumped to Lavon.

All the bass went to Fork.

At one time Cooper was predicted to be better than fork. My cousin has the lake record and should have been just the beginning. Low water and fish being shocked up to take to fork ruined it.

In my opinion it wasn't just predicted to be better than Fork, it was better in the early 2000s. When I moved to Tyler 20 years ago I thought I would wear out the highway going to Fork. By about 2000 I was driving right past Fork to get to Cooper. A lot of Fork guides were taking clients to Cooper, too.

Fished it often when it was opened trees still towering overhead with leaves still on trees.
What great memories I have great lake for a while until water turned muddy and lake dryed up

Best stringer I heard was around 42#, I watched two dd's come loose at boat in 2000. I fished about 5 weekends last summer and only caught Sandys and Blue cat.

The Hybrids didn't help anything. once I started catching them in the timber it seemed the blacks left.
