I have recently replaced the motor mounted oil reservoir. I had ran low of oil in my large oil tank and had thought that I may have got air in the lines. I started the priming the system in accordance with the owners manual. I have read that the break in oiling will restart. Is this the case? It is a 04 Optimax 150.

Anytime I work on a motors oil injection system I put oil in the fuel too until I know for sure everything is good. Like seeing the oil go down in the reservoir.

Do not mix a optimax 50:1 in the gas. You need to take to a shop with a computer to do a oil pump prime after you install your engine mounted tank. Failure to prime oil pump can cause major engine damage. An optimax gets no lubrication to its bearings from oil mixed in the gas.

So are you saying that the priming process in the owners manual is not sufficient? I am talking about the process of turning the key on and moving the shifter into gear 3-5 times in the first 10 seconds to make the oil pump to initiate. The only issue I had was the reservoir float sensor went bad.

If you did the key on shifter procedure and heard the oil pump active that will work but also puts engine back into break-in mode. This will more than likely to cause your plugs to foul so I would replace them after its out of break-in mode. What are you trying to bleed? The lines between oil tank in boat and engine reservoir or from engine reservoir to oil pump?

My oil tank in the boat was low on oil (but not empty) at the same time that my sensor went out. I filled it and primed it to assure that I did not run low enough to put air in the lines causing the alarm to sound. That was not the case. I had read that the motor would return to break in and that it does not, but intend to replace the plugs as soon as the hrs got to that point.
