Just a heads up to those considering PTL - apparently it is now closed to all boats, in spite of signage to the contrary. Last
Saturday afternoon, I watched as a couple of yakkers were told by a police officer to pull their boats from the water. I called the Prosper Code Enforcement, and the response (voicemail) I got confirmed that boating is no longer allowed. Take it for what it's worth, but you may want to call the Town of Prosper before you head that way. Also, if you hear something different, please feel free to post. I'd love to get back on the lake with confidence, even if I never catch much there. Also, bank fishing is still allowed.

Similar thing happened a few years back (city ordinance was initially enforced; but a month later, PTL got an exception). Sounds like the exception has been revoked. That lake and those fish need a rest.

Yeah, because kayak fishing is harmful to the lake and citizenry. Wait...what??? hmmm

Probably proposed and pushed through the city council by a "small-minded, feral, spiritual atrophied bureaucrat."

That really stinks I'd use another work but it might get censored. It was a fun place to paddle even if the fishing could be tough at times. Glad I got to go there before they shut it down at least. I figured that was always a possibility with it being so close to those housing sub divisions. I would not be surprised at all if it eventually becomes private as well.

From what I've heard: City ordinance in Prosper--no vessels on any body of water. The ordinance includes float tubes and even wading.

Last update I received from Will Mitchell, Park & Rec Manager for Prosper, he stated PTL was an exception because it was undeveloped (Back in 2013). From what I have seen to the development, nothing has changed. He can be contacted at william_mitchell@prospertx.org

I double-checked my voicemail, and Will Mitchell was the name furnished by the caller. Said that increased and prospective development and comments received by nearby residents are resulting in the enforcement of the town code. This was as of yesterday at 2:30pm.

From my quick review of the code, it appears that the director of parks & recreation (or similar person) is granted the power to make the final call. Please don't quote me on that or rely on my interpretation, btw. Just the way I quickly read it.

Ironically, the code (and signage at the park) prohibit the use of motor vehicles in the park, and yet just about every time I'me there, I see golf carts loaded with teenagers driving on the park grounds as well as the occasional dirt bikes. And, of course, the equestrian users don't take time to pick up the horse poop.
