I'm having a 10 and a 12 installed right now.

After talking to Slade and going through the functions on a demo 10", I think it will be a very smooth transition.

I tried Lowrance Gen 3 9" for the past few months... Never again!!!!

I can't compare them to 1100 series. This is my first experience with Birds. I love them so far. I don't particularly care that my depth or MPH doesn't read past 10mph because of where my skimmer transducer for SI is located (on jackplate)but I have an old X26C that I am using for 2D Sonar when I'm on plane. But the picture for SI and DI is unbelievable. That's the most important function, anyways, isn't it? The mapping with Lakemaster Card is state of the art, also. I'm very happy with my new H-bird units.

Remember, with the Helix 9 you get the compact SI transducer, and will need to swap it out with Humminbird if you want the best HD quality picture. If you can wing it, get the 10 and you'll get the full size HDSI transducer.

I just sold both my 1199s and put on two 12s, the helix is brighter, same menu settings and format, they added a Lakemaster menu to the main menu for charts, new heavy duty rubber sun cover. The cable collector is easier to take off and put on since its all one piece, the screens are wider more rectangular than the 1199 which is good for side imaging. The sensitivity seems to be a little more intense with Helix as well which means lower sensitivity settings than I used on my 1199. So far I am happy with them
