Academy is currently building a store In Greenville, TX and will be located at I-30 and Hwy 34. This store will be a great location for anglers to get what they need before heading to one of the many great fishing lakes nearby, mainly only if you're coming from the Metroplex (Tawakoni, Bonham, Fork, Cooper, and many more). While reading a previous forum topic recently, it was stated that this particular Academy will not have a large selection of fishing tackle and a lot of you stated that the store is in a prime spot to have a large selection of tackle....bass fishing specific. I live within 20 mins of the new store and I was excited about the Academy coming to town because they can have a very good selection of bass tackle and gear. But, when I heard about the store only planning on having a small fishing section with a small assortment of tackle and gear (bass specific), I began to research it more. I talked with Academy's corporate office and they said that the store will have a fishing section, but the stock will not be of a large selection. I explained to them that the location of the store is on a main thoroughfare to a lot of East Texas Fishing lakes and the concerns of the smaller fishing section doesn't allow for us to be able to "one stop shop" if we need a few specific things or a lot of different things (except for a few specific tackle shops I'll always still shop at near Lake Fork). They said if they begin to get inquiries about customers wanting a larger, well stocked fishing section with a good variety of baits, tackle, and gear, that they would highly consider making the change and making sure that the store is stocked with a large assortment of baits, tackle, and gear.

I was given an email address so that people could start contacting them about the new store and that we would like to see it have a good selection of fishing tackle (specifically bass fishing). So, if you're all for this particular Academy store having a larger fishing section with a good selection of baits, tackle, and gear, take a few minutes to email them and let them know what you would like to see in the new Greenville, TX Academy store.

I wish I had your passion about the Greenville Academy. I really only buy the H2O square bills from there. I like to order from online stores. Cheaper and bigger selection of stuff.

Oh, I do still order from online stores and stop by the stores around the lakes. But I'm the guy who always forgets to order something or decides that I want something different for the trip, so that's why it would be nice to have a good selection close by. I usually get away with buying more online since the bride isn't with me seeing how much I spent if I'm at a store and questioning what I'm buying. With online stores, I don't feel as bad and don't have to take something back to the shelf.

Everyone involved in opening the new store in Greenville greatly appreciates the community interest being expressed in the new store. The store will feature a pretty extensive assortment of rods, reels, lures, line and tackle. As stated by the customer service team member, the store teams are very engaged in making sure that the store assortments are right for each location in order to meet our customers needs and suggestions are welcome.

If they're dumb enough to put a small fishing section in a store in that location, then let them fail. How idiotic.

I work in Greenville and would shop there all the time if they have a good fishing and good golf selection. I was really looking forward to it coming to town. After reading this, it sounds like I don't even need to go.

Well I have just received confirmation this evening that they will be having a good selection of everything we need. I think we are good to go now!

You are exactly right. This will probably be another tennis shoe mecca.
What do you expect from a big corporate company.
They have highly educated people with business degrees calling the shots. All it would take is hiring a fisherman and putting him in charge of the fishing department and listen to him. Talk about making money.
I will continue to spend my money at the tackle shops down at Lake Fork.
Academy in Mesquite and BPS in Rockwall is as worthless as a sidecar on a boar hog.

I'll send an email, what can it hurt.

I will share I tried to do this same thing with Cabelas in Allen and I went out of my way to even get inventories of tournament anglers boats in the Allen area to hopefully get them to stock items tournament guys need and want. I spent a lot of time doing this after getting encouragement from the store manager that was opening the store. As it turned out it showed very little results as their Corporate purchasing guys buy and stock the store with what provides them the highest return.

It's all about the all mighty $$$.
