NEW SWIMBAITS AT OAK RIDGE: Smash-Tech Convict


Big line-thru swimbaits catch tons of big fish, but you can't put them in thick cover because of the exposed treble hook. On the other hand, a big solid-body soft-plastic swimbait requires braid and a 2x4 rod to get a good hookset in the slop. Even with a XXX-Heavy rod, the hook-up ratio is really bad because there's so much plastic bound up on the hook.

This is where the Convict shines. The Convict is a hand-poured 7" full-bodied swimbait with a hook pocket in the body so that it can easily be fished weedless. The molded hook pocket matches the 10/0 Owner Beast hook perfectly, so you don't have to set the hook through a bulky plastic body.

For shallow water, use the unweighted version of the 10/0 Owner Beast hook with a little lead tape around the hook shank to keep the bait keeled and give it a slow fall. It can be fished in deeper water using the weighted 10/0 - � oz. Owner Beast hook.

The Smash-Tech Convict duplicates the big profile and action of a 7" line thru swimbait in a weedless package without sacrificing hook-ups. Sold in packs of two for $16.99.
