Am fixing to try out new trawling net for shad at Joe Pool. Where's the best place to drag this thing?

Can't throw a casting net and can't use seine by myself. Plan on staying in open water and not dragging bottom. In past have seen schools fairly close to top.

It's legal as long as the throat is no more than 36 inches. Have tried and tried with casting net and just can't master it.

Bill, I am 69 and throw a 7' cast net. Go to the internet and google "throwing a cast net". There are several u tube videos on it. I bought my DVD at Cabala's. I use the one where you fold half of the net over your arm. Good luck.

call me crazy but why can't anyone help the guy with where the shad are on joe pool lake. I personally throw a cast net but i'm not going to hassle anyone for not wanting to throw it. Anyways, i can't find them on joe pool either, best thing i can think of in open water is if you have a good finder. troll over humps, etc and find bait balls and see if you get them that way.
