Storm Smash Shad This has been one of my go-to baits on Belton for a while now. It has a killer action that smallies can't resist and it's nice, compact size. Lots of colors to choose from as well!
Santone M Series Spinnerbait Smallmouth's like chartreuse and chasing things, so you can't go wrong with a spinnerbait. I like the 3/8oz size on Belton because it's a compact size. These spinnerbaits are high quality and are made right here in Texas.
Fish Head Spin Thread a Zoom Super Fluke Jr. on the back of one these bad dudes and you'll catch a lot of smallies on Belton. It's go-to bait for numbers there. These are the cream of the crop in underspins and smallies love em'. Lots of different colors to choose from.
Jewel Eakins Jig If you want big smallies, throw this in the 5/16oz size. I've caught some solid 3 pounders on these out there. These are the best flipping jigs money can buy. They have a good hook, quality skirt, and they stand up on the bottom like a defensive crawfish.
Yamamoto Hula Grub If you wanna go offshore there for smallies, you better have one of these on too. Thread it on a naked, no weedguard, 1/2oz-3/4oz football head and swim it on the bottom, just kinda creep it along. These grubs have been around for years and they catch lots of fish, especially smallies!
Kalin's Lunker Grub Thread a 3" smoke/red flake Kalin's Lunker grub on a small ballhead jig, count it down and slowly reel it in. I like these better than the Yamamoto grubs and they're cheaper. Any color will work as long as it's shad colored.
Hope this helps you catch some smallies on Belton. These are truly the baits I use to go after smallies. I'm an experienced smallmouth angler, and grew up fishing for smallies on Pickwick Lake. The best advice I can give you is to think deep (15-30ft).
