also thought about taking an old nav light post, removing the nav light, and then attaching an off road halogen or LED light?

Make sure you still have the navigation lights whatever you decide to do.

I just use a good high powered LED flashlight. About 2500 lumens. It won't light it up quite as well as a good 55 watt HID but it is sufficient for my needs.

i have the LED strips in place on the nav lights. i have a handheld spot light, but would like something mounted up front and removable when not in use. just dont care to spent that much $$$ on to the go light unless its well worth having.

I love mine. There are brighter lights but it is nice to have the remote to scan for stumps and also aim to a point in front of the boat keeping hands free. It isn't the brightest light but more than sufficient for me. I actually have one of the head worn lamps with a battery pack. It is brighter and zooms BUT, when you use it, the inside of the boat picks up part of the light kind of blinding you. They stand behind their product too. I bought mine used and the remote battery door warped. I contacted them and told them I bought it used but wanted to see if they sold just the battery door. They did sell remotes but I didn't want to pay for an entire remote. They sent a complete remote out free of charge, no hassles at all.

I don't use it on my home lake because I just don't need it. I do pack it when I go to Fork. It's worth it just for the few times that I fish Fork t night or before sunrise. It does have the red/green lights in it also. You just need to change out the fuse in your boat.

Please have courtesy and turn it off when you are blinding the boat that is approaching you that you don't see way out there because it is helping you see a hundred yards in front of you.
It is hell to look into those a mile away .

Wire a 12v cigarette lighter style plug in your dash and buy a spotlight that plugs into that

I have one of these I'll sell for $100. You need to have heavy enough wire / fuse to your front running light otherwise it will just blow fuses. The one I have has the nav lights built in and a remote to pan and rotate it. PM me if you are interested and I'll take some pics and send them to you.

PM sent.

I've seen the LED ones that mount on a minkota fortrex bracket. Anyone know if they have a version out yet for motorguide?
