Just enough tension to feel any movement. If you have slack in the line you will miss the bite, also keeping the line tight during the fight is just as important. It’s a treble hook not a circle hook.

the asia market in austen they dont cal them haring though i for got what si called i will have to end store in austen called MT supper market you can order them on line as well when you go to asian markets most time they had about 6 different name is you need to know why i looks like but they sure work better then shad by far Chemdawg I herring here: http://calumetmarine.3dcartstores.com/Whole-Herring--single-Green-Label-Trays_p_458.htmlI ordered 5 trays.

Go get on them, they bite just fine spawn or not. We caught
several last week on Lavon using chicken liver. Had a real good
bite...
