I made short fishing trips Friday and today. It wasn't a dynamite bite for me on either day, but I caught some solid fish. On Friday, I got 12 keepers in three hours. And today, on the opposite end of the lake, I caught 11 keepers in three and a half hours.

I caught Friday's fish 12 to 14 feet deep, in 14 to 19 feet of water, on concrete and drop offs. Today's fish were 11 to 13 feet deep on a drop off. All were caught on my indigo/chartreuse shad. They bit a 1/8 oz jig best, but I also caught some on a 1/24 oz jig. Water temps ranged from 55 to 58 degrees. All of Friday's fish were released. I kept four for dinner today.

Friday's best fish was a black crappie.

Today's was this white crappie beauty.

I did try shallow for a little while, but this black bass and a two pound white bass were the only two fish I caught on jig and bobber.

A plate of fresh crappie on a tv tray in front of a Mavericks game. That works.

Glad you got them to bite for you! I would have liked to stay out another hour myself, but the fresh-caught-fish-for-dinner plan was only going to work if I bailed out early, so I obliged.
