Anyone tried Raven lately? Wondering if it's worth the effort as online searches either show it as the place to be or the place to avoid. Been fishing Conroe mostly, a little Livingston (very little) and looking for someplace within another hour or so drive. Not interested in Lake Houston. Thought about Houston county lake, or others but since I'm a newb I know nothing about the topo of the lakes, safe boating lanes, etc.

I've never heard of Raven. Is it a new impoundment?

They were just starting to make beds and get on beds week before last. Should be about on.

Lake Raven is a 203-acre reservoir located inside Huntsville State Park. The reservoir was repaired and re-impounded in 1956 by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department for recreational use.

If you get on U tube there are several videos of fishing the lake-I'm in the Conroe area and it looks like its worth the drive.

Guess I'll give it a go then. It's a no wake lake but it's just a bit farther than I drive to Conroe so why not? It'll be a couple of weeks before I can make the trip but I'll post a report if I get to make it.

I believe there's limited spots but reading up on it a boat or a yak is best.

I'll need to eyeball that next time down.

Beds everywhere but these cold night must have the fish off of them. I saw one male on a bed today and he was skittish as no other. Picked up a few fish flipping a jig in the reeds. That was it though.
