I know many of you use the Shakespeare mirco series rods sold at Walmart. The 6t & 7 1/2 ft rods are on clearance for $13. I just purchased two of the 7 1/2 footers. Also if you have a Academy Sporting goods store it would be wise to check and see if they have any of the Mitcell Avocet 500 series spinning reel. They have them on clearance for $5.98 This is the only size on clearance. I had to go to two stores but I was able to find two reels for this price. Super combo for a super price. Just thought I would pass this along.

Wow. Those are some super deals!  There is always space in the tackle room for a nice rod and reel for a super price.  May just make a trip to Acadamey and Walmart tomorrow afternoon.

Reggie, which academy were you at? Those reels are a real value for the money even at the higher prices. I found one at the Mesquite store and the other at the Garland store. Like many items at Academy you have too ignore the listed price and run the item thru the barcode scanner. I found so many great deals by doing this. I once got some B&M Sharpshooter rods for 1 penny apiece. Reggie
