I will be at Lake Aquilla next weekend and have never fished the lake. I will be staying near the 1534 bridge. I'm not picky about species: white bass, crappie, largemouth ...whatever is good there. Any tips or spots will be appreciated.

I'll be down that way tomorrow most likely.. Trying to decide between there, Waxahachie, or Mineral Wells to catch crappie.
Where's the nearest bait shop to get minnows near Aquilla?

Didn't make it to Aquila this morning, game time decision to stay close and fish EM. I know that lake better, and knew where I could stay out of the wind. I was targeting crappie, no luck with them but the white bass and LMB were hitting.

So, what's better fishing on this time of year? Crappie? Sand Bass? Catfish? LMB? Any suggestions on baits, tactics, or general structure/locations? I'm going there for a weekend with the family and I am hoping to catch a few fish. Any advice is appreciated?

There is a bait shop in peoria i believe that sells live minnows or at least last summer there was. aquilla is a pretty good for crappie There are 2 places to get bait in Peria. One is the propane shop that was the burger shack, and the other is where the concrete statues ect are made. Went out last Friday night and cauth 2 crappie and one small sand bass. This was in the creek, not the lake. They're not moving much yet but the week before one of my friends caut 14 crappie where I was fishing. Weather is screwing things up but should calm down soon.
I'm on other forums that deal with the old turbo powered Buicks.;)
