Is it still too early and cold for this or are they starting to bite at night now?

My experience is you really need 70 degree water temps to catch em consistently. I have caught them in less but not many. If you really want to catch some at night I would go to a power plant lake until mid April.
Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

62 is the magic number for night fishing. fish 6 foot to the bank. light weighted lizards, worms and dark colored flukes work well and try to use braid.

You can catch them any night of the year. It's up to you as to what kind of conditions are tolerable for fishing.
