What would you recommend is the best (or better) crappie jig to build for the Spring? Please include the size weight and type of hook preferred. Thanks

Any combo of red, pink, light blue, chartreuse, and or white seems to work well for me in the spring. I only use #6 Eagle Claw hooks on my custom designed 1/16 jig head. I've been doing well the last few days with a red body and Hot pink tail.

For me it depends on water clarity to pick a color. However I can give a short idea. First for me on Toledo Bend I call clear if I can see my jig 3' down or more and if I see less than 3' down I use Chart/Blue/Chart or Chart/Black/Chart, if it's rained recent and maybe can't see more than 2' down I use a Flame Red/Black & FL Yellow/Hot Orange. Now if I can see 3' down or more I like a Silver/Silver/FL Blue or one of several options on the body, like I do like my Baitfish chenille a lot, also like Rainbow a lot. I use a 1/32 Oz Roadrunner or sometimes also a Pony head and of course Roadrunners only come with one type and size hook, but in the Pony heads I like #6 or #4 Sickle hooks. I could go on a good bit more about this, but this is enough.

I think the #6 [non-sickle] hook with a 1/32 head is the best for crappie, and the best colors is off white, gray's and dirty yellow. Fancy jigs [outside baitfish color] look better but don't fish any better.
