As for linking, It is nice to be able to tell the trolling motor to go to your waypoint(s) from your graph. I.e. If I see waypoint number 835 on my Lowrance as I am approaching it, I can touch the waypoint and the GOTO option can execute automatic goto/lock on waypoint 835. I can get my rod ready for action...Note: no trolling motor can really spotlock well under obstructed bridges...
When you just touch waypoint '835' the Xi5 will anchor on the coordinates of the cursor and not the actual waypoint. Unless you get the cursor exactly on the waypoint, you can be off by a good distance. If you want to use the exact coordinates of a specific wp, you would have to open the Autopilot screen, hit anchor option, chose 'Waypoint' and then scroll through the list of wps until you get to '835' and select that wp. That is my issue because you have to scroll through so many to get to the higher numbered ones. Note: A few fishing buddies and me would argue the 'anchoring under a bridge' (see my video on the first page). I have done it many times and it works well for me.

Whatever trolling motor you get, this is a great handle that you can add to it to make it easier to stow and deploy. Handle

I touch close to a way point, the cursor will be in the vicinity of the wp, a box will pop up for a few seconds with the waypoint name, tap the WP name, another choice comes up and ask if you want to go to the WP, tap yes, tap engage auto pilot, then you are on your way.

Can you mount an onix transducer on the xi5 ?
I would not like to give up my bow mounted onix.
Mo Sure, you would just have to run the cable externally from the motor to the top of the head. I have a lss-2 transducer mounted to mine and I use a spring to keep tension on the cable but still allows it to turn without getting all tangled up. Blue Nitro - I have the salt water Xi5, so I had to run an external transducer. Could you post a pic of your spring arrangement on the cable. I might try this. Thanks.

Interesting. I will try this tomorrow morning. Where do you find the option to allow for these pop ups?

It's great to know that you can get it to work well under the bridge. When I am in the middle of a 5 pilons bridge, it seemed to be a bit unpredictable.... Thanks for the headup...

Here is the picture of it mounted at the motor. I shielded it by wrapping it in aluminum foil and then covered it with a 3/4" radiator hose. No interference at all. Here is the picture at the head. I zipped tied the spring at the cable coming from the head and also to the transducer cable. The spring keeps the cable somewhat tight but allows the cable to wrap around the shaft when it turns. Leave a little slack in the cable on top of the spring. Just make sure it doesn't catch on the height adjustment knob. Hope this helps.

While I am at it, here are a couple of pictures of how I mounted the TM on my boat. I didn't like the small footprint of either the MK and MG so I made a plate that used all the holes from the existing TM mounting. The plate is 20" long so it spreads the torque over a much larger area (instead of the 10"s or so with the regular footprint). I was also able to shift it so the head remains in the boat. The rails were for the MK so I could slide it back to launch but because of the large nose on the MG, I pinned it solid. I am working on a prototype to be able to flip it back when loading/launching.

I see the mounting design for both are questionable. Durability a concern fishing stumps.Has anyone tried mounting either one on compression springs over bolt to give more flexibility, and under a slidemount to reduce the uneven effect of the surface so it sits true.

Not an xi5 but same issue with loose transducer cable. Thought this to be a pretty good solution. ]

Blue Nitro - Thanks for the info and pics of your transducer and mount. I need to do something like that rather than have the transducer wire dangling. Below is info to turn on Popups. It will make it easy to go to different waypoints:
Pages Settings Chart Popups - Turn On
Popups will stay on the screen about 5 seconds. On the chart, now when you tap close to the Waypoint, the WP name will popup, tap it, then tap "Go to" on the bottom of the screen, then tap engage autopilot.

Dave - Your set up is neat also. What are you using for the chord that keeps tension on the transducer cable. Is it a shower clothes line device.
