I don't think I've heard of it. Is it new? And how much are they selling it for?

I haven't used any personally, but have heard from others that it may leave little to be desired YMMV

We have it here at Oak Ridge (but now that I know Academy has it, I might have to rethink that! grin).

If I understand correctly, it is a line that was developed and sold by a company in the UK (WFT). I think it's been available there for awhile. Ardent appears to have recently licensed U.S. sales.

It's a new line that uses a completely new technology. Basically, it is extruded like mono but it has the characteristics of braid (it doesn't stretch and it floats).

Here's the best part: It is about 1/4 the diameter of mono. The 40# test is the same diameter as 10# mono. The 24# test is the same as 6# mono. The 18# and 12#, well, who can see them to tie a knot???

Feedback has best mostly positive. The one caveat: it is a SLICK line so make sure that you're tying a knot that will not slip out.

150-yard spool sells for $14.99. We've got it in green and yellow.

I think this was mentioned here a year or two ago, but it had not officially hit the market in the US. What Barry mentioned sounds right, but I thought it was Swedish or something, not UK. I'm interested in it, for sure, but I'm waiting for some real world feedback.

I bought a spool of 18lb test about a month ago. It is super thin and slick and I thought it was going to be the next big thing! I couldn't wait to use it. The next day I showed it to my fishing buddy and told him how strong it was and he, like me was very impressed. I used it that morning and caught my first fish with it and it was great! Then it went down hill from there! The second fish broke off on the hookset, then the third broke off again on the hookset. Both were probably dinks. thinking the knot was slipping I tied a diffrent knot and when I cinched down the knot and gave it a tug the line snapped about 3 inches from the hook! And yes I did wet the line before I cinched it so the line wasn't burnt. Needless to say after spending $14 for the line I was a bit PO'ed. I quit using that pole the rest of the day. I was going to strip the reel and put some of my trustworthy Silver Thread back on it but after spending $14 for the line I figured I'd give it another try just to make sure. I took it with me a second time and made sure I cut off 5-6 feet of the line in case it had a weak spot. It didn't take long before I got my first bite, went to set the hook, and the line broke off at the reel this time. I don't try to cross their eyes on my hooksets and mostly use 10lb Silver Thread so I know this line should have more than held up. This is my story with this trash line and will never use it again but if your willing to put out $14 bucks for it, its your money.

I've also had a buddy that tried it. He was very impressed until he put it in the water. He broke it several times. Sounds like it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Does the silver thread sink? Is it a copolymer or mono?

Its a copolymer line and yes it sinks. Best stuff I have ever found. Like papamark said, you just cant go wrong with Silver Thread. Only problem is it is hard to find around here. I order it on Amazon and get the 3000 yard spools.

Tackle Warehouse has it too. They have quite a few strength selections in 300 and 3000 yards, I believe. I have used it since it was introduced as well.
