GENERALLY SPEAKING, they don't open the gates unless the lake gets 6" high and then, they hold it open until it is 6" low. There are exceptions but this seems to be the basic pattern.

The folks at the SRA sponsor select individuals and family in every bass tournament held on Lake Fork. Gates are opened and closed by these SRA relatives to correspond with ideal feeding times during each derby, according to solunar tables.
Now how preposterous did all of that sound?
SRA opens and closes "floodgates" according to preset tolerances. I've heard from several 'reputable' minner vendors that SRA's intentions are nefarious and dastardly.
All that talk means Doodley Squat. In my personal experience, SRA does its level best to balance public, recreational opportunities with their legal responsibility to maintain water resources.

SRA is required by law to release water in excess of pool. Huuuummmmm, that's odd, in 2009 they kept it a foot high for almost a year.(imo waiting to fill the pipeline) I built a dock in june of 2010 and the water went south for 4 yrs after that.. Just my luck, however, we've been blessed lately...

Heck the level has been falling for years. It rarely is not falling to some degree.

Other lakes coming on board in the system, other lakes in the system needing water, drought, excessive rain, reservoir maintenance, etc. The fact is there is no random, devious, property owner, fish/biologically, politically correct, touchy/feely basis for the SRA to release or collect water in Lake Fork. The reason this lake was built was for water conservation.

The SRA has announced that in light of the Bass Champs tournament this Saturday, the gates will remain closed until 2/28/2016.

Yeah, right. They had them wide open during the last TTBC. SRA isn't opening nor closing the Fork gates for any tournament. Ever.
