I have a SeaArk 18' aluminum boat with the floatation pods on the transom. Is there a possible location that a side image transducer can be mounted and work properly on this type boat?

You probably have to use the dual SI transducer installation. A transom picture will help determine that.

The boat is in a storage barn, I will try to get a picture with-in the next few days.
I have not purchased the unit yet but I was thinking of a Helix 9 or 10. Can duel transducers be used on the Hummingbird or would I have to go with Lowrance?

Humminbird Helix will work, you would need the transducer splitter cable (link below)

If it is anything like the image below it will require dual transducer

That is it, except it does not have the tunnel. So I assume that duel transducers are available for the helix. Are they different from the one that comes in the box? Is it a matter of just buying the splitter cable and one extra transducer or is two different types of transducers required?
Thanks for all of the inputs.

If you go with the Helix 9 it comes with a compact transducer, most people will trade that one in for the hdsi transducer. If you go with 10 it comes with the hdsi transducer no need to swap out. Then you would need to purchase the splitter cable and another hdsi transducer. If you go with the 9 you could use two compact transducers. It basically what's in your budget for a fish finder setup

Upgrading the compact transducer on the Helix 9 to the HDSI transducer that comes with the Helix 10 and 12 is not truly needed. Most that have the Helix 10 and 12 are on 455kHz which is what the compact transducer is. The 800kHz that is in the HDSI transducer on the Helix 10 and 12 is beneficial for example scanning bridge pilings, riprap, rock piles or hard bottom terrain.

Required is a "Y" cable and an additional XNT-9-SI-180-T Transducer for your boats application.

AS SIDB Y Side Imaging Splitter Cable

Y Cable - Side Imaging and Dual Beam - allows you to use two transducers on one unit without the use of a transducer switch. For use with Side Imaging products only, in conjunction with a dual beam transducer only. For improved high speed performance for bottom tracking.

Humminbird XNT-9-SI-180-T Transom Mounted Transducer

Compact dual/side imaging. 20/74/84 degree, 200/83/455 kHz with built in temperature.

While not "needed", a lot upgrade the Compact SI transducer not for any added frequency, but the HDSI is longer by two inches and has longer SI crystals. Those longer SI crystals produce a thinner SI pulse. The thinner SI pulses produce sharper images.

Units that have 455/800 kHz Side Imaging frequencies can also use 800 kHz with the Compact SI transducer.
The Helix 9 SI GPS has the 455/800 kHz frequency setting by selecting Hi-def Sidescan in the unit menu.
