No, never fished it that far north. Fish Victoria area Guadalupe
My personal best is still swimming out there just getting bigger. One of these days I will quit feeding it.

Anybody ever fish Lake Wood or Lake Gonzales or the river between them? Yes. However, you cannot get from Lake Wood to Lake Gonzales. There is Oak Forrest Dam in the middle.

ChuChu....I'm aware of the dam, really what I need to know is can a 16' Jon boat with a 50 easily navigate the river? How far up can I go? And since your from Gonzales, can the same jon boat be put in below lake wood and reach the confluence of the San Marcos and Guadalupe?

I run the river from Lake Wood to Oak Forrest Dam in my bass boat. Keep your eyes open and stay in the channel.
You can launch below Lake Wood dam at the GBRA Park. There is no take out at Gonzales except kayaks. Yes, it is easy to get to the confluence. I haven't done the confluence run in probably 30 years, but it is about 5 hours by kayak if that helps.

I launch out of Cost with a 20 ft alum CC with a 90 HP yamaha. You can make it up to the dam but there are a few tight spots and one extremely shallow spot. I've only done it once.
When I set lines I find that up river of the cost ramp is mainly blues and channels. I have caught very few yellows that direction. Going down river from cost I start hitting yellows and blues. Gotta find brush or an outside deep bend of the river.
