I run 10lb on all my bait casters for everything I fish from t rig to crankbait! And my spinning gear is 6lb! Don't need a whole lot to land big fish!! Just know your gear and what it can handle and most importantly don't get in a hurry! This is just how I like to fish!

I wouldn't use 10lb line within a hundred yards of a rock or tree, but that's just me. I mostly fish heavy cover, and even 15lb test makes me nervous.

Fishing for crappie? Haha.

Just kidding. I have 10'on one reel. The reel isnt on a rod much. Lol I usually use 12 most often. The 10 just seems too thin. I know it isn't, just seems that way.

I use 8 and 10lb line both on a baitcaster for drop shots and weightless worms.

Pretty much just use 10-12 lb line on all my BC setups. Only exceptions are heavy cover/punching.

This ^^^^^^

But add throwing frogs and big swimbaits to the exceptions

Me too. I have a couple of reels with 15# FC ( I use equally IVIS X and Berkeley 100%).

Been using Berkeley BG for 20+ years as my mono line and the 10# is pretty darn tuff and strong.

I have a couple of setups with braid.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

If 10-lb, I'd recommend using a non-mono line for less bulk and less stretch.

There is a noticeable difference to me regarding line suppleness, casting distance, lure action, and cranking depth going bigger than 10lb line. However, I have had larger bass bite right through 10lb line, so retie more often.

Yes.

For small crankbaits and wacky worms when I need to downsize to get bit.

Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.
