On this graph hybrids shows up left then the whites mix in with hybrids shows up right. With screen like this and not clutters,it takes the guessing out what you are looking at and what is about to happen.Result is some thing like this pretty much every trip.

not bad for a few hours of catching with son and friends

Yep my fish stick. I got the option of using a splasher/thumping machine/ my little boy with a rubber mallot, but the stick is my go to old lady. I take her fishing every time. I even got my own beat and rythems I dance to while thumping with my stick. Macine and splasher can't duplicate that.

Mine has a speed controller on it to adjust the thump speed to the user's preference. Not like a song beat, but a regular cadence.

benp needs a cold shower! LOL Too much fish porn...
jbobo here is something to think about. If running 2 fish finders on different frequencies you would think everything should be good, but even though they are transmitting different they could be receiving each others signal. That signal could come in a as interference or clutter. While sitting still shut the DI one off and see if the image changes on the 597 and vice versa. It may help you to trouble shoot what is going on. Manufacturers tell us not to use two (transmitting) fish finders at the same time. The first pics did look like clutter to me. Then when the real fish pics came up from the other members screenshots you could see a big difference. Your first pics did not look like trees or brush to me either. It could very well be the fish you are catching and not displaying correctly on the finder. Not saying that anybody is wrong here just trying to help a fellow fisherman out. cheers

Was thinking the same thing...lots of fish...lots of work cleaning them. Somewhere down by Houston, if I had to guess.

The cadence does work. !! Good electronics and their proper set-up make ketching that much easier.

I use 2 depth finders a lowarnce for gps and a hummingbird 1199 for depth finder. I have to turn the transducer off on the lowarnce to elimate interference. Been using my right hand for 50 years very versatile for a thumper. But his is neat if you want to go that way.

Yes I agree, proper set up will make it easier to distinguish what a user is really looking at below the surface. I get in such a hurry to catch fish and helping others to catch, that I haven't spent enough time to set my sonars up properly.
Ya'll are right about proper setup and I will have to either take the time to learn how to set it up or find someone to show me how.
I have learned to read them, usually, and to be able to tell what it is showing me. At least on the lakes I frequent. When I go to a unfamiliar lake, it is sometimes harder.
I guess part of that is so many years of not having electronics and still being able to figure out what the fish are doing so I could catch them.
When I started using electronics, I only relied on it for the depth readings. I already knew where fish and bait hung out.
I didn't trust the sonars to tell me what was under my boat, mainly because as a newbie to them, I used the fish symbol to show when fish were present and that was a mistake.
Old school says to figure out what the fish and bait are doing, which takes more time.
Electronics are a tool to help us in different ways to speed up the process of putting fish on the boat, that I haven't fully adopted yet. But I am getting there with time.
He//, I still have a slider phone, without internet on it!
I am slow to accept new gadgets and utilize them. Mentality of "this has worked forever, why change?"
The concept of spending $600. on a device to make a call to someone is beyond me. But the constant pressure from the family and friends to convert is gradually winning over. grin

+1 what Salsa said. Your screenshots are typical of suspended whites on Eagle Mountain and Bridgeport this time of year while on TM or at anchor. I run two units and never adjust chart speed. Always turn one off and hook both to cranker. Maybe adjust sensitivity/gain for clear picture. If you can read your graph and catching why adjust anything? Simple is usually best. Keep on thumping

I kinda agree, David. Sounds sorta scary to start adjusting something I'm not sure of. I might not get it back as good as it is. lol
