I am wanting to get a new fish finder for my boat. I have a 17' ranger. I was looking at a Hummingbird Helix 5 SI. All opinions appreciated.

Buy the biggest screen your finances will allow. The helix is a good choice!

When I needed an opinion on that subject, I was told to contact Shut up and Fish...I did, then after mulling my options, I purchased the unit I wanted...from him...then I needed telephone support and he provided it...then I needed additional support, and he directed me to some very good web videos on the subject...then I met him at a fishing event...he was even as nice/helpful/approachable in person as he was over the phone...and his price was well, inexpensive relative to my other options...So I am going to advise you to contact him...One stop shopping at its finest! Standup guy if there ever was one...

Bonham, you will do yourself a disservice if you don't contact David at Shut-up-and-Fish. I just purchased a lot of gear from him, and I really can't speak highly enough about his company and customer service. This was my first purchase from Mr. Goodson, but I've known him for several years, and I wouldn't buy electronics from anyone else. His number is 972-822-9285.

I just bought a Helix 9 from David. He helped me decide via a couple PM's then ordered it over the phone and had it the next day. I know he didn't make much money on the deal based on the prices I saw online.
