I have 2000 ox66 225 on a Skeeter ZX 202c. I fished a tournament on Saturday and something didn't feel right. The boat would loose speed as I trimmed and would start to come off plane. It would like feel like a small jolt as I trimmed up and hit the gas, My motor would shake up as I would trim up. It felt like something was loose. I just checked all the jack plate bolts to the boat and the bolts to the hull. I tightened one up, but only one full turn. Everything was so tight I could even tighten them.

I have been researching a little. I think it might a motor mount but honestly what/ where is the motor mount? I am using context clues to figure it and parts motor diagram? Where is it? And do you think that's what is it?

Believe it or not they have motor mounts, I myself didn't know until a couple of years ago.. You should have an upper and lower mount.. I had my upper mount go bad on a Mercury and I had to remove the power head to get to the upper mount.. If your mechanically inclined you can save a lot of money doing it yourself.. I didn't change the lower one so I'm not to sure how to that one out.. Hopefully it didn't shear off any bolts like mine hammer

Yes it could be the tilt and trim unit because of the jerking going up.

I am going to post a an update if someone is searching. The shaking was due to the bottom cowling grommets being worn out that hold on the bottom cowling. I can't find the parts on boats.net . It like you have to take the power head off to get the grommets. Any ideas on the actual grommet that hold on the front.

I am also still having some surging on topend. Speed goes from 62-66 in smooth water.

I am the ink it's an 02 sensor, Hugh pressure fuel pump, or vast filter

Had the same thing happen on mine. Replaced the grommets without pulling the powerhead.

Joe did the grommets just pull out? I could pull mine out. it was like there was a flange on the underside?

Old grommets went all the way through. New ones were a top piece only with a small flange that extended into the hole. I pulled out the old ones and put the new ones on. Cowling is steady now. I would recommend getting the new ones so you can see the difference. Looks like they changed the design.

Oh, I had to pull pretty hard on the old ones to get them out. I think I grabbed them with a pair of long needle nose pliers.

Thanks Joe.. Exactly what I experienced. I tried and tried to pull the old grommets out. I ended up mounting the new grommets on top of the old ones without a fully pulling the old ones out. It's really snug no, but it's causing the new grommets to flare out. I will try again on removing the old ones.
