After reading about the Conroe wreck and seeing the video of the boat, thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and post this. Its a free boater safety course, you have to register but it is free and once completed you print a certificate and will qualify you for discounts with most insurance companies. I witness people improperly passing and overtaking nearly every day I'm on the lake and I'm sure many of you can think of an instance or two in the recent past that you experienced too. Even if you are a well seasoned boater, take the course as a refresher... what can it hurt? With the water temps up, the lakes are soon to be crowded, please take the time to learn the rules of properly navigating on the water! It might save your life someday! http://www.boatus.org/texas/If you dont want to register and take the course, please look at this link and review basic navigation rules. http://www.boatus.org/navigation-rules/

Great post! I found the same course on Saturday after reading and watching the updates from the Conroe incident. I took a course 15-16 years ago but I am going to do it again just for peace of mind.

I took both the US Coast Guard Safety course and the Texas Boater safety Course in about 1979.

Thank You!! I'm in and have been driving boats for 20 plus years! I'm in too. And I've been a boat owner since 1987. Never hurts to take a refresher. Thanks!
